Got just about everything for my kitty costume, only thing I'm still waiting for is the unitard, but I'm not expecting that until next week. Finally gave up on the original dealer for it and went to Renaissance Dancewear instead. They wear incredibly helpful, got the whole order done in about 10 minutes, took payment right over the phone, and made it a rush order without any problem. Also was about $100 less than the other place.

Below is a pic that Cindi took of me with everything on, then photoshopped a bit for the neck and the collar.

Had a local author stop into work a couple of days ago, asking to sign the copies of his latest book we had. Turns out he's R. A. Salvatore, introduced himself as "Bob". "Bob?" I said, "Yeah," he replied, "once it's on a book cover you can't change it." He seemed rather nice and I wanted to talk to him more, but it was geting busy right then and I didn't have the chance.

Did a lot of running around today, finally got to the optometrists for my kitty contacts, they wanted too much for them, so I ordered them online, but I did get to try the trial pair they had, and here's the picture of that...

Still working on painting my appliance, getting the hang of my airbrush for the first time, but there will be pictures of that when it's all done and on my face. :)

Not the best picture of me otherwise, I had an allergic reaction to a new soap I bought and my face has been peeling heavily all week, so I look a bit paler then usual.

Made it back ok, got caught in rush hour yesterday on the LIE.
Got there just in time on Tuesday for the first wake, got to see my sister and husband and her kids, her youngest for the first time. More importiantly they got to see me, for the first time in 6 years or so.

Was very strange seeing my father lying there. Allways thought he'd go on forever, he did most of the time as well. Was nice, a bunch of his friends came by, old neighbors and some of his family.

The funeral was very pleasant. There was a short service at the funeral home by a reverand. Then we all drove to Arlington for the military service. The was a flag ceramony with an honor guard, he was in the Navy during WWII, and they played "Taps" (a recording). Thought we were going to be there for the burial, but they do them as a group. Twenty at a time or so. Still have to get the exact locale for his gravesite, I think it's in section 21A. Going to try to visit when I'm on the island for I-Con.

Well, checked with MapQuest and it should take me about 4 1/2 hours to get down to LI. Hope I make it OK, I tend to fall alseep on long drives. The wake is tomorrow at 2pm at the Lang Tobia DiPalma Funeral Home in WI. Will be staying the night with the funeral itself being the next day.

Well, I went to work, was feeling fine after the previous bad news. Lasted about 2 minutes, told the managers that I would have to take time off for funereal stuff, and proceeded to start crying. They said I should probably go home. Found out I get 5 paid days off for bereavement. Probably going to take all of them, this is the first time someone close to me has died, apart from cats.

Just got off the phone with my sister a couple of minutes ago. My father died last night, wish I knew how to feel. I am rather upset, but also relieved. Relieved mainly that he is no longer in the pain that he spent most of his life in. He was sick for the last two weeks, and refused to go to the hospital, the home care nurse found him this morning. Still not sure of funeral arrangements, but will probaly be on LI this comming Monday and Tuesday.
